TRISH NICOLAS . Natural Light Photographer . email@example.com
Over the course of four decades, Trish Nicolas has continuously explored the many layers of her inner artist and creative energy. Her first medium in this discovery was dance, which she started at age four and actively nurtured past her college years. During a three-year sojourn in France, she applied her innovative spirit to building small businesses, and learning the art and science of French cuisine. Back in the U.S., Trish built a career in international marketing communications, helping companies to express themselves strategically and creatively. She was one of the industry’s most senior executives, holding the post of EVP/Group Director for Ogilvy PR, one of the world’s top three PR agencies. She recently spent two years as an expatriate living in England, where she was an avid scrapbooker and traveler. Along the way, she started a family with her French husband of 22 years.
Trish received her first personal camera for her college graduation from her now-deceased grandmother: A Canon T70. Since then, she has cycled through periods of fervent photographic activity and more detached interludes, a product of external inspiration and varying needs for self-expression. The birth of her beautiful children, now 10 and 12 years old and her favorite subjects, has provided infinite motivation. Trish is also drawn to patterns (both symmetrical and asymmetrical), skewed views of common subjects, vivid color and organic matter, such as water, trees and leaves. She often employs a photojournalistic style to tell a story and capture a moment with her works. She eschews the technicalities of the art but is often praised for her perceptive and instinctive “photographer’s eye.”
Trish was asked to join the AKA Photo Project in 2009 as a photographer and executive board member. AKA Photo Project promotes emerging and amateur photographers, with a twist: The "AKA" implies that these photographers are "accidental artists,” people who are not artists by profession, but who pursue photography as a passion... and happen to be quite good at it. AKA Photo Project brings these new artists and their works to the forefront to be discovered and enjoyed by others. The AKA Photo Project works with galleries, special exhibits, corporations and public entities to foster and showcase new and talented photographers.
Trish’s work has been featured at The Opal Gallery in Atlanta as part of the AKA Photo Project initiative and Atlanta Celebrates Photography. Six of her recent works were selected for the 2009 exhibit "Face à Face: Atlanta through the eyes and camera lens of French Photographers," which will be featured again at the Buckhead Public Library July 2010. Her French-themed work is exhibited by request at several local venues, and she has been invited as a feature photographer in the upcoming exhibit "Dans la Rue," which will debuted in Atlanta in 2010. She produces fine art and travel photography for purchase, as well as inspired commissioned commercial photography and children’s natural light portraiture that captures the moment and emotion.
